vanilla_fir_tree_honeyThe Vanilla Fir-Tree honey is produced from the fir trees of Mainalo mountain in Arcadia, Peloponnese that belong in Cephalonia fir tree (Abies cephalonica) that exist only in Greece and this is the reason that has a name Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) by the European Union. It is entirely produce on this mountain, by traditional way, and has a very distinct color and taste compared with any other honey. Its color is something between caramel and vanilla and is very thick.

It is a reach honey in trace elements such as phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and iron. It is a honey that never crystallizes since its content in natural sugars is very low. It has an exclusive taste without any strong aroma. It has wide beneficial properties especially in the treatment of cough and bad breath since it acts as a natural antiseptic. The extraction of Vanilla Fir-Tree honey is very difficult and this is the main reason that production is extremely low.
